Environmental actions

Since the establishment of the "Arapitsa" Group, the members of the association have participated in many environmental actions and held events, the most important of which are:

5/3/2007: Event at the Municipal Kiosk "Kiosk" in collaboration with the Naoussa Community Center, on the topic: " Pedestrian and Driver in the City" where the problems faced by pedestrians, drivers and people with special needs in the city of Naoussa were highlighted.

Speakers were:

• Ms. Alex. Bousdi from the Naoussa CCI, who developed the topic: "Crossing the city",
• The president of the taxi drivers' association, Mr. Elias Dalambiras, with the testimonies of drivers,
• Mr. Simos Paltsanitidis (Olympic Champion-President of the Paraplegics of Macedonia-Thrace) spoke about the testimonies of pedestrians and especially people with disabilities.
• The testimonies of the law enforcement officers were presented by Mr. Nik. Ioannidis of the Municipal Police and Mr. Alex. Kouvakas of the Fire Department.
• Finally, Mr. Giorgos Nikolaou, philologist and professor at the 1st High School of Naoussa, spoke about Traffic Education.

1/6/2008: Conference at the "Vermio" hotel in Agios Nikolaos in collaboration with the Panhellenic Association of Chemical Engineers (P.S.C.M.), under the auspices of the Municipality of Naoussa. The theme of the conference was "Environment and renewable energy sources in the Naoussa area: Prospects and opportunities"

The speakers were University professors and graduate Chemical Engineers, members of the P.S.C.M. and they developed the following topics:

• Rational environmental management in Municipalities,
• Integrated municipal solid waste management systems,
• Prospects for the application of small photovoltaic systems in buildings and public spaces,
• Possibility of exploiting wind potential in the area of \u200b\u200bImathia Prefecture,
• Small hydroelectric projects: Development projects or projects of local importance: The Greek reality,
• Production of energy and biofuels from energy crops and available biomass reserves.

The conference was a great success and was attended by the Mayor, deputy prefects, deputy mayors, representatives of interested parties, a representative of the Municipality of Veria and a large crowd, and received nationwide publicity.

14/6/2009: Event at the Municipal Kiosk "Kiosk", within the framework of the events for Environment Day with the theme: "Everyday Ecology: What can we do for the environment and our health"

Speakers were:

• The Professor of Agricultural Economics of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. George Daoutopoulos, who developed the topic concerning our behavior as active citizens and consumers and its impacts on the environment and our health, and
• the Professor of Ecology of the Biology Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mrs. Myrto Pyrovetsi, who spoke about everyday ecology and how our behavior affects the environment.

The event was attended, among others, by the Mayor, Members of Parliament, the Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayors, etc.

17/10/2010: Event at the Municipal kiosk "Kioski" on the topic " Volunteerism: Romanticism or Utopia ".

The speaker was Dr. Eleftheria Parthenopoulou, Doctor of Surgery at the University of Frankfurt, former President of the NGO "Doctors of the World", who initially referred to volunteerism and her experiences in the various missions she participated in to the affected areas of the world.

The event was attended by MP Mr. Tolkas, the Mayor, deputy mayors and many of our fellow citizens.

20/6/2012: Event at the Municipal kiosk "Kiosk" within the framework of the environmental events with the theme: "Wild greens on our plate: Practical instructions for a healthy and economical diet"

The speaker was the biologist-author of the book of the same name, Ms. Roula Goliou, who presented wild herbs and referred to the properties and nutritional value of this wealth that is given to man free of charge by nature.

The event was attended by the President of the Board of Directors, deputy mayors and many of our fellow citizens.

28/3/2015: Event at the "Vetlans" Cultural Center in collaboration with the Volos Astronomy and Space Society (Naoussa branch) and the "Aristotle" Cultural Society. The topic was: "Severe weather phenomena: Contemporary trends" Speaker: Professor of Dynamic Meteorology and Weather Modification at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Theodoros Karakostas, who mainly addressed the following individual topics:

• Naoussa - Weather
• Lightning - Thunder
• Hail - Hailstorms
• Climate change

The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Mrs. Chrysa Paschoula, the former Mayor, Mr. Tasos Karabatzos and a crowd of people who filled the hall to capacity.

24/5/2015: Event-Speech at the "Vetlans" Cultural Center on the topic: "People and rivers" and speaker Dr. Dimitris Kalaitzidis, who presented, among other things, information about the Arapitsa River. This was followed by environmental actions and traditional dances by the young dancers of the Group at the Grove of Agios Nikolaos.

2-8/6/2018: Painting exhibition in the "ERIA" Periodical Exhibition Hall by the teacher Mr. Haris Kourouzidis entitled "The State of Birds". It was held on the occasion of World Environment Day and with the assistance of the Municipality of Naoussa. During its duration, educational activities were held for the students of the Kindergartens and Primary Schools of our city and the region, in collaboration with the Primary Education of the Prefecture of Imathia, and were attended by over 300 students with their teachers.

2/12/1018: Event at the Muses Center, where the book by Biologist Roula Goliou "Macrozoia, the ultimate guide" was presented. The presentation was made by Dr. Stella Arabatzi, microbiologist-biopathologist, technologist-agronomist Eleni Panagiotou and the author herself, who provided rich information on the subject of the book. The event, which was accompanied musically by Maria Petkou on the piano and the singing, was coordinated by Fani Vlachou, head of the Environmental Department of the Association.

31/3/2019: Event at the CHRISTOS LANARAS Cultural Center (Vetlans Hall). The topic was: "Tradition and culture through the eyes of today's bioscience" and the speaker was the emeritus professor of Genetics of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Athanasios Tsaftaris, who presented in a unique and understandable way the usefulness of traditional habits of everyday life in nutrition, hygiene and medical science. The event was attended by the Member of Parliament, Ms. Karasarlidou, the Regional Councilor, Mr. Teligiannidis, Municipal Councilors and a large crowd.

3/4/2021: Planting of seasonal flowers by members of our Group in squares and central points of the city. The planting was done in collaboration with the local community of the Municipality of Naoussa, beautifying these areas and beautifying the environment.
