Mission to Toronto
Wednesday 28 July 2010
The 27-member delegation of the "Arapitsa" Group returned from Toronto, Canada, on Tuesday, 1/11/2011, after a 12-day stay, loaded with experiences, emotions, knowledge, ideas and images from Toronto and the Greek diaspora. The members of the delegation returned carrying the love and warmth of the feelings of our Greek brothers and sisters living abroad. The Group was invited by the "Vergina" association of Imathia residents of Toronto and in particular by the Mouratidis couple and participated in the events of the Macedonian month. Specifically, at events of the Pan-Macedonian Association of Ontario, at the dance of the Greek community of Toronto, at an event of "Vergina", at a festive event during the exhibition for the 2 centuries of Greek immigrants in the imposing building of City Hall in the presence of the Mayor, the Consuls General of Greece and Cyprus and other dignitaries. At a youth gathering, a traditional dance seminar was held by dance teacher G. Pipilas and all its members took part in the parade of October 28. They visited Niagara Falls, the sights of Toronto, the city of Hamilton, the wonderful "Greek Home" (nursing home) and closed the visit with a moving farewell dinner and with an honorary and heartfelt visit to the Greek Consulate.
